Library
Currently
Library facilities are available only during the Residential School.
Here
is some information on Library rules and facilities while on campus.
Introduction
This Library was established in 1968 with a modest collection
of about 100 books. Today the library focuses its services on
the professional information and literature needs of the students
and teachers.
Currently the library has good collection of materials on diverse
subjects with a strong emphasis on education.
Issue
System
Every user will be provided five user cards after they have been
registered in the library. On each occasion the book is borrowed
a user must present his/her own library card. The card will be
returned to the user only when the book is returned. No materials
are to leave the library without being signed out. Books once
issued should not be brought in the library, except for renewal
or return.
All the books and other library materials being checked out should
be shown to the staff on duty at the library exit at the time
of checking out for inspection. The users are also physically
checked every time they leave the library as part of normal procedure.
Loan
system
The trainee teachers are allowed to take 5 books for two weeks
duration and lecturers can take 10 books for one month duration.
Short
Loans
It is a closed access collection kept behind circulation counter
which consist of course readings, important textbooks recommended
by lecturers, essential materials which are limited in number
and heavily used by students. These materials are loaned for 2
hours during the library opening hours and for overnight loan.
A maximum of only two materials may be borrowed from this collection.
Reservation/Recall
A book may be renewed unless it has been reserved by another borrower.
The user has to present the book for renewal. If an item needed
by an individual is already loaned out to another user, the user
who is requesting for the item has to fill a reservation/recall
form. The requester will be notified when the item becomes available.
Searching
Assistance
In case of an item not being located on the shelves inquiry can
be made at the Circulation Desk. A search will be initiated and
the user will be notified when the item is located.
Photocopy
Services
A photocopy service is available in the library on payment basis
and the charge for the service is as follows:
A4 size paper Nu.1:00 per copy and A3 size paper Nu.2:00 per copy.
If both the sides of the paper is to be used the cost will be
Nu. 2:00 for A4 paper and Nu.4:00 for A3 paper.
The payment for the service is recorded in separate registers
maintained and the service charge amount is given to the accountant
at the end of every month for deduction to be made from the stipend
of the users.
Overdue
notice and fine
This notice is sent only for the reserved items. The Library as
a courtesy issues such notices. Not receiving a notice does not
exempt a patron from fines or suspension.
If fines or lost book charges are not paid, the Institute can
withhold grades, certificates until accounts are in good standing.
In order to ensure maximum availability of in-demand material,
fines are applied.
Nu.2:00 per book per day for normal loan material and Nu. 2:00
per hour for short loan materials. Items, which have been recalled
but have not returned by the seventh day after notice was generated,
fines is Nu.3:00 per day per item.
